Third Round at Queensland Raceway at Willowbank

The third state round was undertaken at Queensland Raceway at Willowbank with close racing throughout the field.  Matt Shanks stepped into his dads car and ” drove it like he stole it” with a first place on the weekend.  Lindsay Kearns and John Townsend showed that the Original Cars can still mix it with newer cars with a second and third overall for the weekend.

Once again newcomer Grant Gatland showed how fast he is with the fastest lap and a number of victories however a burst tyre wrecked what could have been a brilliant weekend.

A number of drivers recorded personal best times, none moreso than newcomer Anthony Conias who received the driver of the meet award with some blistering laps in his EA Falcon recording over 2 seconds quicker than previous times, also Wayne Patten recorded over a second quicker than previous personal best.

Snow Hine, Maria Mare and Jeff Jones fought hard with many passing moves throughout the weekend and really showed the spirit of Saloon Car Racing, whereby no matter where you are in the field you have close and clean racing.

The next round is 4th / 5th July at Lakeside, most drivers dream track.  Initial discussions show that we will have a maximum field of 20 cars
